TORONTO — Telus Corp. is shopping for the western operations of AlarmForce Industries from Bell Canada, which just lately bought the Toronto-based residence monitoring firm.
Telus can pay about $66.5 million to accumulate about 39,000 buyer accounts in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan — representing practically 40 per cent of the entire AlarmForce buyer base in Canada.
Bell and its Montreal-based guardian BCE Inc. paid about $182 million to accumulate AlarmForce in a deal that closed Friday.
It says there will probably be no instant change for present AlarmForce clients and that Bell will work with Telus to make sure a clean transition.
Telus says it seems to be ahead to integrating the entire AlarmForce staff and contractors into its enterprise.
Bell says AlarmForce CEO Graham Badun has agreed to remain on as a particular adviser for six months.
