CALGARY — Suncor Power Inc. says over the following six years it expects to deploy greater than 150 electrical autonomous haul vans at its firm operated-mines — a transfer anticipated to lower its tools operator positions as early as 2019.
The Calgary-based oil and fuel agency says it’ll proceed to work with the union on methods to attenuate workforce impacts, with phased implementation to start out at its North Steepbank mine.
The corporate says the implementation of AHS will change roles and required talent units for some staff at Suncor’s operations over time.
Suncor says, following evaluations accomplished over the previous 4 years, it has validated that AHS expertise can be utilized safely, successfully and effectively in its working surroundings.
It says the expertise gives many benefits over current truck and shovel operations, together with enhanced security efficiency, higher working effectivity and decrease working prices.
Suncor says its deliberate deployment of AHS expertise is among the largest such investments on the planet.
